Android Inching Towards The Crown Of Tablet World, Imposing Threat To Currently Dominant Apple's iPa

The global tablet market has seen quite a number of entrants lately. However, none has come closer to threaten the dominance of Apple’s iPad. But the increasing numbers of Android powered entries, in the recent past has caused significant drop in the popularity of and sales of Apple’s iPad.

According to a recently launched report, Apple's iPad makes up to 55 percent of total tablets shipped across the world in this third quarter, which although is pretty impressive, but still is less by around 14 percent. The drop in numbers could be attributed to its Android rivals.

Apple’s 14 percent loss has caused severe gains for Google’s Android tablet manufacturers including Samsung, Asus, and Amazon. According to the report, Google’s prominent Android Operating System, now powers around 44 percent of total tablets entering the market. The market pundits expect a further growth in that number.

Apple might be dominating the tablet market now, but with the increase in popularity of 7-inch tablet and the not-so-successful debut of iPad mini, it is tough to say that their dominance will continue in near future. The Android powered tablets have stuck deep in the tablet market and seem to be the primary choice of tablet buyers these days.  If the same trend continues in the tablet market, we would not be surprised to see Google’s Android taking over Apple as the king in the tablet market in near future.
