Asus to introduce Intel-based FonePad tablet

After the launching PadFone, Asus is now set to launch FonePad. According to reports, FonePad is going to be a 7 inch tablet that the company is expected to reveal at the forthcoming Mobile World Congress 2013.

The tablet will be equipped with an Intel Atom Z2420 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz speed. Mostly, it is supposed to be run on Android 4.1 JellyBean. Also, it is likely to support display resolution of 1280x800 IPS touch screen. The body will be of aluminum paired with 4270 mAh battery. Besides, it is claimed to be having 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, and 3 megapixel rear camera with a support for 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.

It should be noted that Asus is the manufacturer for Google Nexus 7 tablet too. The Nexus 7 is power-driven by Nvidia Tegra 3 processor which is tipped to clock at 1.3 GHz. Also, the tablet is also having a 7 inch IPS display and a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. It features 1 GB of RAM and 4,325 mAh battery. While launching, Nexus 7 ran Android 4.1 but now is updated to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

In the current market, there are so many 7 inch tablets. However, the biggest challenge for Asus FonePad would come from Nexus 7 tablet. If the rumored pricing and specifications are indeed correct, then it would be difficult for Intel powered Asus tablet to overcome the Nexus 7.
