Bharti Airtel Takes the Crown Of The Fourth Largest Telecom Operator

Indian Telecommunications service provider Bharti Airtel has finally owned the world’s fourth largest mobile operator crown owning 250 million connections worldwide.

According to global ranking it was revealed that Telefonica Group has grabbed the fifth position.  China Mobile continues its legacy of being on top spot with 683.08 millions connections followed by Vodafone Group 386.88 million and America Movil Group with 251.83 million connections.

As we go further the other Indian telecom operators in reports are Reliance Communications who has maintained its global ranking and is on eight positions. Idea cellular too has done a good job and is moved up by three places securing fourteenth position while BSNL’s ranking has dropped by two places and reached twentieth position. However, the foreign firms Telenor and Sistema with a subsidiary in India are at ninth and fifteenth position and Russia’s Sistema Group has lost the four positions in ranking

According to reports, Out of top ten members “Bharti Airtel” is the only member who had moved up the ranking with 13 % year-on-year rise in connections. In 2010 Bharti Airtel had ranked fifth largest mobile operator in the world followed by Zains Group’s mobile operations across 15 African nations.

If you have a glance at mobile revenues, among top five operators Bharti Airtel revenue is significantly lower having $ 3.04 billion in the second quarter of FY12, which reflects Airtel’s presence in the ultra low-cost, low margin Indian and African markets.

Airtel has successfully sprinkled its magic in telecom market.  Keeping in mind the success of Bharti Airtel, hope to see it soon on top position.
