Microsoft's Windows 8 Opens Off To a Striking Start with 4 Million Upgrades

Software giant Microsoft introduced their latest Windows 8 operating on 26 October 2012 and with over 4 million upgrades already downloaded, it is safe to say that the new operating system is off to a "striking" start.

Speaking at a developers event, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s Chief Executive said, "In the past three days, we have sold around million Windows 8 upgrades." The excitement among the Windows fanatics is soaring high. Furthermore, Ballmer also told that millions of businesses have also hoped onto the new Windows OS.

Prior to its launch, the market analysts depicted Microsoft’s Windows 8 as a bold maneuver as the company was about to change their long-familiar UI to adopt to the touchscreen devices, which are currently dominating the modern market.

As for now, the only apps that have been tailored for Windows 8 includes Twitter and online file sharing service Dropbox. The sales of Microsoft’s Windows 8 along with their Surface Tablet are seen as software giants attempt to compete strongly in the market that is quickly shifting to mobile devices. It will be early to predict anything, but if the initial sales figure is anything to go by, the Windows 8 certainly will make a strong impact on the market.
