New BBM 7 Update To Let Users Make Calls Over Wi-Fi

RIM’s BlackBerry Messenger has been one of the most prominent instant messengers for smartphones and can also be attributed as one of the major reasons of BlackBerry’s success over the period of time.

Now with RIM finding it hard to hold its ground, the company is trying everything to make it work for their loyalists. In their latest move, RIM has released an update for their BBM. The new BBM v7 beta messenger update comes with voice calling feature. In addition to the voice-calling feature over Wi-Fi, RIM has also given it a heap of other new features. RIM has rolled out the BBM v7 beta update for all BlackBerry users.

The new BBM 7 update can be downloaded from the BlackBerry App World and is compatible with devices that run BlackBerry 6 Operating System or higher version of BlackBerry OS. RIM is also planning to launch a variant for devices running BlackBerry 5 Operating System earlier next year. The update might take some time to appear in the app store.

According to the company, the BBM Voice feature has a great response from the early adopters. As per the statement from RIM, around 90 percent of the users who tried the beta version of BBM 7 were enthralled with the voice quality while travelling. Around half of the BBM users across the globe have international contacts and hence the feature will now let them save a lot of money and time when making international calls.

Customers will be notified when the update to download direct within the app is available. The update comprises BB ID Synchronization that means the customers will be able to link their BBM profile, Contacts, and Groups through BlackBerry ID. There also are 16 new emoticons. So, update your BBM and enjoy voice calling over Wi-Fi and many more new features.
