No Hike in Mobile Tariffs, Says IDEA
No Hike in Mobile Tariffs, Says IDEA

IDEA cellular, country’s third largest GSM player has denied any hike in the tariffs. According to industry insiders, Idea has around 115 million subscribers across the country, making them the third l argest mobile GSM operator.

Several mobile operators have de-activated millions of connections following a DoT crackdown, which not only has caused one of the first-ever de-growth in Indian telecom operators and have prompted them to hike the tariffs. Speaking on the issue, the company spokesperson told that IDEA already has disconnected certain connections on wake of directive given from DoT and doesn’t see any fall in the number of customers any more.

The directive from DoT indicated tariff hike from telecom operators. Among the early starters, there’s Reliance Communications which hiked the call rates for pre-paid as well as post-paid customers by 25 percent. We haven’t heard of any other telecom operator hiking the tariff, but nothing can be said as for now, especially considering the fact that there will be no-roaming charges from next year.
