Now Capture 3D Images From Your Smartphone, Thanks To Indian Researchers in MIT

If you thought Samsung’s announcement of a digital camera with smartphone functionality was super cool, we have some more exciting news for you.

Two Indian researchers, Kshitij Marwah and Ramesh Raskar, at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) have developed a platform that will let the developers integrate features from the dSLR (digital single-lens reflex) cameras straight into the smartphones.

The new camera design is called Light Field Camera technology, which can easily be fitted into a smartphone. The new Light Field Camera technology captures set of light rays coming from a source and gives users the ability to capture single-shot 3D photos. With the incorporation of this new technology, users will be able to do many things with their smartphones that they cannot do with their simple 2D cameras.

With the technology developments moving so fast, it has become tough for the customers to even imagine what’s in the store for them.
