Sony announces 6.9mm thin new Xperia Tablet Z

Sony announced its new flagship tablet, the 10.1-inches Xperia Tablet Z which features an impressive thickness of 6.9mm.

The Xperia Tablet Z is powered by a Qualcomm's 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip processor and Android 4.1 Operating System. It comes with an 8.1 Megapixels Exmor R-sensor rear camera.

Other specifications include 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Unlike Google's flagship 10-inch tablet, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z will have a MicroSD expansion slot. It will also come with both NFC and LTE support.

In design and build front, Tablet Z is dust and waterproof and comes in a 6.9mm thin, 495g light body. This makes it the thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet going around, and significantly departs from previous Sony designs which have failed to capture the market in the past. It sports 6000 mAh battery. Sony also has the usual swathe of software packed in, including the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 and "S-Force" virtual surround sound technology.

There is currently no information on the price and availability for the Xperia Tablet Z, though we're hoping that it launches around the same time as the Xperia Z handsets Q1 2013.
