Sony to launch Xperia L and Xperia SP this week

Sony is set to launch two new phones, the Xperia L and Xperia SP before the end of this month.

The two phones are devices which we haven’t heard much of before, with no word on what exactly the specifications on the two devices will be. Allegedly, the Xperia SP could have a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960T chipset, 4.55-inch 720p HD display, 8 megapixel camera, 8GB internal memory with MicroSD card support and an aluminum body. The Xperia SP is also expected to have a waterproof version of the phone with a quad-core Snapdragon processor, a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera and 2600 mAh battery.

It’s interesting to see how quickly components are moving from flagship to mid-range and even low-end smartphones. For example, 8 megapixel cameras were the domain of flagships last year, and now appear in a mobile half the price. Dual-core processors are also now essential even for the slowest phones, allowing app developers to develop more intensive apps with confidence.

The Xperia L will possibly have a 4.3-inch FWVGA 854x480 pixels display, 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 8 megapixel camera, 8GB built-in storage with MicroSD card and 1,700mAh battery. The pricing details or release date has not been published.
