TDSAT Asks Tata Teleservices To Pay 5 Paise Per SMS Termination To Vodafone

The dispute between the Indian telecom major Tata Teleservices & Vodafone, took an interesting turn when Indian Telecom tribunal TDSAT, asked Tata Teleservices to

remunerate a fee of 5 paise for every SMS termination on Vodafone's network.

The directed price by TDSAT is the half of the price asked by Vodafone from the day they filed the petition. Additionally, Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) also asked Vodafone to not disconnect the interconnection of SMSes produced from TTSL network and if they’ve disconnected then they will have to stop it.

The tribunal has requested Tata TeleServices Limited to list their petition on 10th January, 2013 for next trial with Aircel. In the meantime, TDSAT has also directed Vodafone to file their reply to the primary petition within 3 weeks and TTSL response over it in two weeks.

Vodafone in their plea asked a termination fee of 10 Paise per SMS from April 2011. The termination charge is the amount paid by an operator whose network SMS or calls are generated from the network where they ends.
