WhatsApp Bugged, Spammers Taking Full Advantage
WhatsApp Bugged, Spammers Taking Full Advantage

Wednesday wasn’t a happy mid-week for WhatsApp users. As they found all their contacts have status field listed “error: unknown”, followed by a message from the CEO of the firm saying that th

ey are not making enough money and that you will have to forward the message to all your contacts as a proof of your legitimacy.

Thankfully, there was not anything serious to worry about. WhatsApp still is free to use and the CEO has nothing against you, regardless of what those spam, messages would’ve suggested you.

The official Twitter handle of WhatsApp posted the below message:
“WhatsApp Status functionality is currently not working. We are working to resolving it soon-ish….”

However, within an hour the message saying that WhatsApp is becoming paid service and that you need to forward this message to use it free was floating all over. The message that was circulated was as follows.

“Message from Jim Balsamic (CEO of Whatsapp): we have had an over usage of user names on whatsapp Messenger. We are requesting all users to forward this message to their entire contact list. If you do not forward this message, we will take it as your account is invalid and it will be deleted within the next 48 hours. Please DO NOT ignore this message or whatsapp will no longer recognise your activation. If you wish to re-activate your account after it has been deleted, a charge of 25.00 will be added to your monthly bill.”

Considering the fact that everyone loves freebies, the message took no time in spreading over the messenger circle. The status message feature has been restored completely, but it still is not working properly in many of the handsets.

If you are still getting problem with your WhatsApp status feature we’d urge you to trust the engineers at WhatsApp and wait till it gets sorted out. Happy, WhatsApping.Enter Your News Here
