Sony launches Xperia SP for Rs. 27,490


Sony has announced a new mid-range Android smartphone, the Sony Xperia SP at a price range of Rs. 27,490.


This smartphone comes with a 4.6-inch HD (720p) display which features Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technology protected by a Gorilla Glass. The Xperia SP is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 320 GPU.


The device is made using co-moulded aluminium chassis and has thickness of 10mm. The transparent strip below the screen in this phone changes colour depending on the caller. The phone also has a dedicate camera key on the right. This handset boasts 8 megapixel cameras which features the Exmor RS sensor and commits stunning image quality.


The Sony Xperia SP runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean with Sony’s Timescape UI on top. The smartphone comes with 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded by up to 32GB via micro-SD card.  


It also comes with Sony LIV video streaming app that gives users access to over 77 Sony TV shows. The company is offering a free case worth Rs 1,990 with the device.


Powering the entire package is a 2,370mAh battery and the connectivity options on the Sony Xperia SP include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS with Glonass. The smartphone will be available in Black and White color options.
